Extremely hyped, and having high expectations. Played Zero down, which was awesome game.
First 2 hours – rating 20%
- Everything but graphics looks so cheap
- Played two hours and didnt talked with single NPC, no money for NPCs?
- Level design is so BAD, and boring. There is one TABU in 3D games, do not let player look for item in 3d area. In these 2 hours I had been stuck like 7 times, its just cheap level desing, here is square area, it all looks same everywhere just go and search.
- Worst possible start fo any game is, „Hey this is point A get to point B“
- Story do not need to be good, if gameplay is OK, You do not need story at all, just, just don’t do retarded story. Sadly that is what I got. Thousand years old building of company which Aloy has no access, its even partially hostile. She slip inside, touch panel „This is super secret info which cannot by discovered by anyone“ will just get played live, that makes no sense, nothing make much sense in those 2 hours.
- Focus interface got downgrade, its chaotic and not very useful for orientation or detection, I just wish time would slow down when in focus mode.
- UI is unfriendly, its like this game was made for PC, its overcomplicated and found myself doing full swings from cover instead of throwing stones.
- I had to force myself to play
- Traps that I can place only under myself are useless
- Story continues and it make even less sense. Like story was probably ok on board, but people doing level design with how it will be told to players did terrible job
- There is a thing, called second game Syndrome, when developer play first game so much that he has to continue on difficulty of endgame in start of new game. Yep that happend, just two basic machines that get alerted will f’k You up, normal difficulty is broken. You are forced to stealth.
- Fight animations looks cheap, when doing silent attack its like two animations are just somehow glued together
- Again cheapnes feeling from random falling from platforms, like there was no budget to develop at least a bit inteligence for Aloy to not randomly suicidally fall from edges.
- Not even starting and wanting from player to do jump, before land release, jump other way, really?
- Looking for ladders is so anoying, navigation is so anoying
- This game is anoying
- Hey its only my feelings after two hours, I had bad feelings about witcher 3 start, and it turned out to be one of best games in galaxy, we willsww.
- Factory ruins traversing just looks ugly, it got downgraded from HZ beatifull hills traversing, also it makes no sense to have these rope paths just prepared in there at all. Its not like natives live there and created paths in time like in HZ .
First BOSS encounter (3hours in game) – rating 25%
- This is so retarded
- Why is this mother f’ker so fast, I cant hit him even with slow time what the f’k
- This fight is so annoying i died 3 times, focus help sh’t , i cant even go focus mode that f’ker kill me in it.
- So after scanning in focus mode I randomly found out that You can press touch button and jump into monster detail info screen with time frozen, ok thats ussefful, just UI designers did terrible job.
- So some parts dissable some boss mechanics ok cool, I still cant really hit them that f’ker moves so fast.
- I got the boss, I am so pissed, this is Nomal lol ? If I had problems , cant even imagine cassual people playing this.
- Ok so after the fight I found big canons on floor, probably would be much easier fight with those, just, those mother f’kers were not visible at all, again UI did absolutely terrible job, even focus scanning do not help at all, it should be pulsing in big red lol
5 hours ingame – rating 30%
- Ok so finnaly in world, seems all till now was just some kind of bad tutorial –
- I went for first “?” mark on map. It was lake, juped into it, swimmed in cave. “You need diving gear to continue …” .
- I went to second “?” on map, there was cave with entrance under rocks “Way blocked, You need special tool to continue” Wtf, what kind of moron thinked this out, its so retarded, what kind of open world is that.
10 hours ingame – rating 100%
- I found myself immersed into game so much, I kinda forgot about real world in last two days. That is something I value most at games.
- Its the first accessible part of the world and I visited every place, did every side quest. Cool thing is, You get skill points as rewards for side questing.
- Most enjoyable content for me is to go to the workbench, mark all possible weapon/tools upgrraded as Jobs (pressing button will create Job which will create quest which will mark on map all monsters which drop needed monster parts or animals areas to hut) . This was super cool I felt like Witcher. Opening map and following to monsters area, starting up scanning mode by long press of R3, scanning monster, then pressing touch panel to open up details menu, looking at the various machine parts drops, finding part I need. Then taking bow , slow motion and hitting off the needed part, which contained what I need was so satisfiing. I felt like pro hunter, so I upgraded all gears I could before to continue to next game are which was blocked by main quest.
- If parts for job are from monsters You never met it will not be higlighted on map so You can ignore that.
20 hours in game – rating 90%
- First diving gear, then, rocks tool, and now fire crystal blocked doors .. I do not like waste time in game (lol) , going somewhere jumping over stuff fighting mobs just to hit the wall .. And I absolutely hate having undiscovered “?” on map just because of this, its driving me crazy, I am “check guy” I have to have everything solved before continue on main story and hate things that block that
- Still game is very enjoyable, opened world is even bigger. Love humans being humans, and solving humans things in this apocalyptic world, I like side quests at the moment more than main quests (which is ussually good sign) .
- I went trap skill tree, was owning boss fights by them running on bomb trap exploding themselves awesome. Or planting bomb, throwing stone, enemy come, hiting bombwith arow boom, three enemies come to look on dead comrade, I am still in grass planting second bomb, BOOOM. Funny.
- In new zone monsters are tougher, fights fiercer , and trap build seems to be unusable, I got wrecked so hard, its just mess. Main reason is You would need to create minefields to win those encounters and You just will never have enough resources for that. Monsters also can destroy Your traps with skills which is retarded. And You yourself will trigger more bombs by accidend like You would like to ..
- Traps are fun, good for boss fights, but by no means viable game build. I reseted to full machine tree. Important skill is one which allows You make mount agressive. I teleported to site with only mount type I can override, made it agressive, teleported back. And “Oh My” , combination of Mount tanking and my bow shooting parts of monsters wow, I am like 200% stronger than with traps, its pure awesomness.
- Awesomness ended with, knowing that repairing mount ate up all my shards, it just cost too much, finally some fun and some retarded dev came to meeting and sayd “NO”
- Ok so I googled (hate when I have to google game things, it means something is wrong), that there is armor which make repair cost zero, but its in middle of game, so fk it. But there should be meal that has same effect to 8minutes, I was hardly ignoring meals, since I do not generally like “timed” effects which eat resources, but still didnt found any seller or it ok whatever.
- Problem of mechanic skill tree is, when You have no accessible mount at fight, because there are a lot of locations where they cannot go, so in the end its again just You and Your bow. So my conclusion is, only real all round viable build is Hunter bow skill tree, and everything else is just bonus which is good to use at some specific ocasion. Good thing is I can reset every time I want for free straight in skill menu.
- It took me 20 hours to figure out most important mechanic in whole game. I cant stress more enough how gamechanger this is. When You scan monster and target it in focus mode, after a sec small menu will be shown around it, with small square icons, You can cycle through these small icons and YOU CAN MARK PARTS with pressing trangle. Parts will be violet color and STAY higlighted all the time. Normal focus and yellow higlight fade away pretty fast so most of fight You see just monsters. This is absolute gamechanger for me, before fight I just hilight manually all mobs and all parts just quickly smashing triangle. Then sending mt fellow robot to attack and assist as Hawkay shooting everything violet to support mz mount in fight, am so super strong now 😀
- Aparently teleporting and calling mount will heal him , will use that till get hands on food.
22 hours ingame – 80%
- Main story problem is, the way how it is told. It shows projections of past events. Problem with this is in comparison of Horizon zero, those projections were a diary type, where developers had their diaries and just put daily logs in it, that was great. But in forbidden west, its done retarded way, its not diary logs, but recodings of people talking about confidental top secret stuff, like from spy cameras, and it make no godamm sense to come to ruin terminal, pressing play button showing confidental footage of top secrets of companies , where recorded persons dont even have idea they are recorded, is purelly retarded, who would even thinked that this is OK. Result is I cannot really immerse in story, because my brain cannot belive this, because its illogical. Still this could be solved easilly. There could be secret reporters organisation who spied on rich people and done those recordings, and focus as modern tool could discover that. Easy right .. I also do not like that Aloy is some kind of hacker now, “focus” should be tool navigating her, would love if she ried to discuss with it for solution and not jus “Ah I am so wise I have an idea”
24 hour ingame – rating 85%
- I climbed first Tall neck, awesome. Remembered this is first thing to do because it shows whole map area.
- Googled that fire crystal tool is obtained after lvl 10 main quest, so going for that.
- Main story suprisingly got much better, I was really interested what will gonna happen.
- After main quest Aloy mentioned she should discover world before continue. I take this as finally sign that I am free to roam around. Was waiting for that moment.
- My plan is to hit the Cauldron as first next target to be able to override more stronger monsters.
- I would like more if recordings audio played from controller, and not reproductors, it would add much more depth, and many games do that.
- I also wished that wariou weapons had informative vides to it, also skills in skill tree, some have but not good nough. Or if Focus had some VR training area for all weapons puoches etc.
30 hours ingame – rating 75%
- Last two days I went to sleep at 4 AM, guess that speaks for itself.
- Setting quest mark navigation to “guided” in settings is gamechanger, I do not understand why it was not set as default, its just so much more comfortable to navigate in world now.
- Open world, is fake open world, every third location is blocked by diving or metal flowers , its annoying. I imagine some boring manager deciding “Oh this will be so great” . Its not.
- World is nice and so but unrewarding, I farm last 8 hours and there is zero to none progress, no new gear, still use first bow I got from start of the game, no gear rewards, and even armor quest is retarded, npc want some items, then want another items, then make joke about wanting another items, then he thanks, and send me to find scavenger camps “somewhere” , what a retarded quest (I use ‘retarded’ word so offten in this review :D, but when game is great and just some really stupid decisions brings it down, am pretty annoyed)
- Skill trees make no sense. Openable skills make no sense, like you can find trap skills not in trap tree, or fighting skills in recorvery tree, it make no sense, its like some manager looked at it and said, lets spice it a bit up and shuffle active skills randomly.
- I have no feeling o getting stronger at all, puting skill points in these passives make no difference in fights, and active skills are hardly any good, more annoyance.
- Valor skills are like food in this game, You will not use it at all. Globally temporal effects are disease in games. I mostly forget I have it, when remember I mostly missuse it, because You cannot stop it. In the end all serious fights end up same, marking all machine parts and tearing it off with basic bow, so I do same thing as if I had 0 skills in build.
- I have runned straight into MU cauldron to open up overriding. Just to figure out, opened machines are nowhere to find, just lol. And to find that only 2 overrides were added, others have to be farmed by mechanics opened up later in game, another f*king wall, what a nuisance its ‘walls’ game. I really start think, that developers intended You to first go main story, and THEN explore the word, which is a bit retarded, because, it misses the point of You getting super strong because You do optional content, why would I want to get strongr after game is finished, really.
- AI of overriden, machine is retarded, even ifset to agressive, he is just not agresive, and almost all his attacks miss, then he freeze up get stuck, Charger isnt very good fighter pal, but still it makes fights easier, much much easier with tank. But am pretty angry about opening Caulron and having access to NO NEW machine on map.
- There is no way to tell which machines You can override on map, You have to remember, and there are too many places when no mount has access So You are on Your own, which is also retarded, as mentioned before only hunter and recorvery trees make any sense, all others are only for specific situations.
- I may overreact with skills and gear. But thats caused by doing game continuation, developers got stuck in Horizon Zero mechanics so long, that they loose few screws in head, and overcomplicated Forbidden West to the point, its too far from cassual players to get it right. They want You to hunt for food parts, so you have some 5 minute foods so it complement Your skill tree, so You finnaly get to state where gameplay jump from annoying to fun. Or to get some super rare amor to get there, its not RPG its You are lame and struggle most of game, till point when in one minute You are super strong, I dont like that mindset, since You get super strong when it do not really matter anymore so what is the point, and there is no feeling of getting better.
- Puzzle locations are annoying and boring, and also make no sense, there is pulling boxes, pulling walls, moving cells, just for sake of doing these activities, the didnt even try to put it in some lore, its just randm puzzles like made by some random level generator.
- Audio recordings which turn off after getting rom menu are retarded. Why couldnt it continue to play while walking around ? As a result I never really listen to them, which hurt lore even more.
- Text messages are here only for 4 number codes for door, after fourth one its really lame.
- Not carring about skills or gear or anything and just roaming around is still fun doh
35 hours in game – rating 40%
- Last 5 hours were pain. From 20 places on map all 20 were blocked by deep water, or metal flower or cave spikes. Its extreme. Such a bad world design. This game is not made for open world exploring, its fake. In last 5 hours I earned 1 skill point .. even NPC side qeuests are blocked. Such a time wasting design.
- Non mountable overrides dissapear after You teleport, lol. You cannot call them in as mounts lol. This means, first Mu cauldron is totally useless, it open up 2 machines which have sites in begginer zone only, lol. And next unlocked machines are hidden aganist another Wall, LOL. How bad can this world design go. They planned you go main story till end, but gave world map acess to fake feeling its open world. What a cheap move. And this was pure manager decision, its not like looting chests make you any stronger at all.
- World miss any depth. Only thing whole west lore is jumping around is Sun god kill raids in past. So whole word feels history cheap, its like nothing else ever hapenned in this land. In Zero one could feel thousands years of history on each step.
- I still use initial green upgraded bow. Like there is no reason to switch to anything else I have accessible for now, and I kill everything with it.
